CIT Leadership Experience

Our camp leadership program is now a year-round, progressive, experiential leadership opportunity. Discover, connect, and take action as you spend three weeks at camp at either overnight camp or day camp building your leadership skills! Grow your confidence through team building, self-discovery, and creating activities that leave a lasting impact on campers.

NEW Camp Leadership Experience

Price: $300 for the entire 2022 year (April 2022-April 2023) 

What’s included?

  • CIT Leadership Conference at Camp Lakota (meals and accommodations included) 
  • Unlimited opportunities to volunteer at your choice of summer camp!*** 
    • *Minimum of three weeks is required 
    • **Additional $1,195 registration fee is required for campers to attend Lakota overnight camp as a CIT. 
  • Year-round virtual CIT meetings  
  • Year-round volunteer opportunities at outdoor program events.
  • CIT t-shirt and pin 

Entering Grades 9 & 10 

Girls learn the foundation of camp leadership through team building, self-reflection, and identifying personal growth areas. Girls will leave camp able to assist with implementation of camp for younger girls.


Entering Grades 11 & 12 

Girls will utilize gained knowledge and resources to plan and lead camp activities with little direction. CIT II participants will also learn how to harness these new skills outside of camp.

Lifeguard in Training

Entering Grades 11 & 12 

Girls will shadow waterfront staff and practice basic life-saving skills. LITs Help with lifeguard in-service training and will complete all steps of the Paddler and Mariner Boating program at Marine Landing. 

Application Info

All prospective CITs and LITs must complete an online application, including one reference form. Applications will be accepted until March 30. Deadline to apply is March 30 . Applicants will receive notice of their acceptance the week of April 4.

NEW GSGLA CIT Conference

When/Where: May 6-8, 2022 at Camp Lakota

CITs  accepted into the program will attend a GSGLA CIT conference weekend at Camp Lakota. Conference provides leadership trainings, networking opportunities, meals, and accommodations all included in the GSGLA CIT Program cost.

Application Info

Complete an online application, including one reference form. Deadline to submit is March 30. Once submitted, we will send follow-up instructions within two weeks, which may include an interview. Camperships (financial aid) are available. 

Not in high school but ready to take on a leadership role? Join us over the summer as a Program Aide (PA)

Program Aide: Mariposa & El Ranchito  (Entering Grades 7 & 8 )

A pre-CIT experience where you will learn leadership fundamentals as you begin your transition from camper to camp leader! Participants may register through myGS.
