On the evening of Saturday, November 9, we gathered at Skirball Cultural Center for an unforgettable night of empowerment that celebrated changemakers and connected those who champion them—all in support of bringing the lifechanging benefits of Girl Scouts to more girls throughout Greater Los Angeles.
We presented the Changemaker Award to Chrissy Teigen, an unrelenting decades-long advocate for girls and women, and dedicated GSGLA volunteer troop leader. Chrissy, who was joined by her daughter Luna, a GSGLA Brownie, and husband John Legend, delivered emotional remarks that left the audience equally teary-eyed. “The most important lessons I learned as a [Girl Scout] troop mom have always been rooted in learning the power of one’s own voice,” Chrissy said. “I hope that... [all the] young women here tonight feel the power... of their voices too. Not just the power to stand up and speak up for yourself, but the power to stand up for others, too. That’s what being a Girl Scout is all about.”
