Leading girls is joyful, meaningful work-and sometimes it asks a lot of us. Troop leaders are often holding excitement, big feelings, growing independence, group dynamics, unexpected moments, and the beautiful messiness that comes with helping girls discover who they are becoming.
In this interactive 90-minute workshop, Dr. Kate Truitt will share simple, brain-based tools to help troop leaders care for their own nervous systems while creating more space for connection, confidence, and leadership in the girls they support.
A clinical psychologist, neuroscientist, author, and longtime advocate for girls' mental health and resilience, Dr. Truitt brings more than two decades of experience translating the science of stress and neuroplasticity into practical tools people can actually use in everyday life. She is also a former Girl Scout herself and was honored with a Girl Scout volunteer recognition award in 2025.
Together, participants will experience easy-to-use practices for navigating stressful moments, reconnecting with themselves, and helping girls build greater awareness of their own brains and bodies. We'll explore ways to adapt these tools across ages and bring them naturally into troop life, leadership moments, and everyday conversations.
Come as you are. Bring your brain. Leave with tools you can use for yourself-and share with the girls you're helping become the leaders of tomorrow.
