Prerequisites: Camping Skills Session 1, Camping Skills Session 2

Looking to build confidence in your outdoor skills? The Chop & Burn Workshop is a hands-on session designed to support those who want extra guidance with key campfire and tool-use skills. This workshop focuses specifically on safe knife and hatchet handling and how to safely start and maintain a fire.

Participants will learn important safety guidelines for using knives and hatchets, including how to handle tools responsibly while working with wood. You'll also practice step-by-step fire-building techniques with an emphasis on safety, control, and proper fire management.

This workshop is especially helpful for those looking for extra support in feeling comfortable and confident building and maintaining a campfire with their troop, in a guided and supportive environment.

What we will cover:
-Practice breaking down wood with knife and hatchet use
- Learn fire-building techniques from Camping Skills 1 & 2
- Enjoy a traditional campfire experience

What to Bring:
-Pocketknife
-Bandana
-Hair tie (if needed)
-Closed-toe shoes
-Water bottle
-Camp chair or sit-upon

Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • Registration is paid in full at time of registering.
  • No Transfers.
  • Cancellations prior to close of registration are subject to a 10% administration fee.
  • All cancellations after close of registration: no refund.
  • The council will provide a refund if an activity is cancelled due to insufficient registrations, acts of nature, or other reasons beyond its control.
  • Please allow 2 weeks to process refunds. Refund will be credited back to original form of payment.
