American
Red Cross in-person training for certification in emergency response
for large events, wilderness & remote areas.
Prerequisites for girls and adults: current CPR/AED
& First Aid Level I certification.
Wilderness
& Remote First Aid (WRFA) is required when:
- Attending activities/overnights where the location is more
than 30 minutes from immediate emergency medical services (EMS)
response.
- Holding event(s) of more than 199 persons

- Troop or Service Unit has their own resident
camp
This American Red Cross training class is to provide
volunteers the first aid skills to be able to respond to emergencies
& give care in areas that do not have immediate EMS response. This
training includes how to respond to emergencies in wilderness and
remote environments, including urban disasters, such as earthquakes
and hurricanes. This certificate is valid for two years and satisfies
GSGLA guidelines for the first-aider role. You must attend both
sessions (approximately 16 hrs.) to receive certification for this
training. The fee for this course is charged only once and will cover
all sessions. This is not an overnight training.

Supplies
needed to participate: Existing troop first aid kit,
lunch/snacks/water, and towel/yoga mat for knee protection
(recommended).
Older Girl Registrants:
Cadette, Senior and Ambassadors are welcome to attend. They must
complete the same prerequisites. If your parent/caregiver/leader is
not attending the training as a participant, one adult will need to
stay for the training to meet our adult-to-girl ratio. Girls that are
attending need to bring a copy of a completed Health History Form and
OTC Form with them.
