American Red Cross online and in-person training for certification in adult, child, and infant CPR/AED & First Aid. The online portion must be completed before the in-person session.
Upon completion of this training, attendees will receive a certification that is valid for two years. If you are volunteering in the first-aider role, this class satisfies the GSGLA guidelines for the minimum level of first aid required for access to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) that is less than 30 minutes response time.

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BELOW FOR CLASS INSTRUCTIONS

This is a blended online and in-person class. This class includes a self-paced online training course with scenarios to complete followed by an in-person skills testing session. Both the online and in-person sessions must be completed for certification.

Complete this certification in three parts:

1.    Register here for the in-person skills testing date and time through gsEvents.
2.    Two weeks prior to the in-person skills testing date, you will be emailed instructions to complete the self-paced online training through the American Red Cross website.
You will need to COMPLETE the entire online course prior to attending the skills session you registered for.
3. Attend and complete the in-person skills testing on the date you registered for.

You MUST provide verification of completion for the online portion to the instructor. If you are unable to show proof of online course completion, you cannot attend the in-person skills testing.

Once you have attended and completed the in-person skills testing date, you will receive an email directly from American Red Cross within 5-7 business days with your certificate.  If registrants do not complete the course by the end date and/or do not successfully pass the course, no refunds will be issued, and registrants will need to register and complete the entire training again to receive a certificate.

Older Girl Registrants: If your parent/caregiver/leader is not attending the training as a participant, one adult will need to stay for the training to meet our adult-to-girl ratio.  Girls that are attending need to bring a copy of a completed Health History Form and OTC Form with them.

If you have any questions or issues regarding your American Red Cross account, or cancellations, contact training@girlscoutsla.org.
