Girl Scouts in grades 6 through 9 are invited to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a primitive encampment in the Mojave Desert. Older Girl Scouts serving as Mojave In-Service Counselors (MISCs) teach participants fire building, first aid, knots and lashing, survival skills, and desert camping techniques. Girls will also learn how to use a compass, pocketknife and hatchet, how to pitch and strike a tent, cook over an open fire, and more. Girls will have an opportunity to work in patrols with girls from other troops. Girls not currently Girl Scouts may participate and we will register you (additional cost: $25). This opportunity is open to troops or individual girls.

The program has 2 parts: Part I – In-Town Activities (Jan-Feb 2019); Part II – Desert Encampment (Apr 2019)

Cost Details:
Workshops/Tryouts - $50 if received by Jan 1, 2019; $75 if received after Jan 1, 2019
Desert - $225 by Mar 16, 2019

Included in price:
Workshop/Tryouts - Includes patch, skills book, songbook, and food at overnight tryouts. Girls must bring lunch for the workshops.
Desert - Includes transportation, food, t-shirt, activities, and patch.
