More than 750 Girl Scout alumnae filled the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 to culminate Girl Scouts’ 100th anniversary year at the ToGetHerThere Luncheon. The event celebrated three phenomenal alumnae and nearly 100 outstanding Girl Scouts selected as tomorrow's Emerging Leaders. Los Angeles' business and community leaders, most of whom were Girl Scouts, attended the luncheon to celebrate the centennial and bring awareness to the Girl Scout’s advocacy campaign of encouraging gender-balanced leadership in one generation.
The morning of the event, Emerging Leader Girl Scouts enthusiastically took part in a panel discussion with event honorees and Girl Scout alumnae: SunAmerica Retirement Markets Inc. CEO Jana Waring Greer, Sempra Energy CEO Debra L. Reed, and DineEquity, Inc. CEO Julia A. Stewart; and took part in minute-mentoring sessions where each Emerging Leader had the opportunity to chat with the honorees and several other successful Girl Scout alumnae from around the L.A. area. The afternoon luncheon featured an inspiring address by GSGLA CEO Lise Luttgens, Emerging Leader Girl Scout pin presentations, and Women of Distinction Award presentations to the three ToGetHerThere honorees for their dynamic contributions as leaders and as role models.
Thank you to everyone who made this event possible, including our staff and Board of Directors for their hard work and dedication to this event and campaign, as well as to our many supporters and sponsors. A very special thank you to the ToGetHerThere Chair, Caroline W. Nahas for her hard work in planning and making this once-in-a-lifetime centennial event such a great success for GSGLA and Girl Scouts everywhere. It was an amazing day to be a Girl Scout!
